top 5 CS2 records

Counter-Strike remains one of the most popular and competitive esports disciplines. Despite the constant update of records and achievements, some have remained unchallenged for years, standing as untouchable milestones for modern players. Here are five such incredible CS2 records that have yet to be broken.

1. A Tournament Rating of 1.70

In 2017, Nikola "NiKo" Kovač delivered one of the best performances in CS:GO history at ESL One New York. Over seven maps, he achieved an astonishing rating of 1.70. Under his leadership, FaZe Clan was so dominant that they lost more than six rounds on only one map. And this was against powerhouse teams like Virtus.pro, Cloud9, and Astralis. Despite numerous attempts, only Donk managed to match this achievement at IEM Katowice seven years later.

2. Wins and Losses

Esports history is not only about records of victories but also about records of defeats. For example, the academy team Eternal Fire set a dismal record by losing 17 matches in a row during the first half of 2022 at the WePlay Academy League. Interestingly, the team only managed a 28% overall win rate in its history, and the only player who broke into the main team was Wicadia.

On the flip side, the record for consecutive wins, set by Ninjas in Pyjamas (NIP), is unlikely ever to be broken. At the dawn of the CS:GO era, NIP won 87 consecutive maps, a feat that remains unparalleled. Even the legendary Astralis lineup managed only 17 consecutive wins, underscoring the Swedish team's incredible achievement.

3. Aces

Scoring an ace in an official match is no easy task. It requires immense skill and luck, especially at the highest level, where players usually play very cautiously. However, Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev set an incredible record by achieving four aces in a single tournament—at IEM Cologne 2021. This tournament became the second most significant in his career, second only to his Major victory. Notably, these aces were not against weak opponents: two were against Astralis and one against G2 in the final.

At ESL Pro League 19, Malbsmd managed to match this record, but Kostyliev’s original achievement remains one of the most memorable in CS:GO history.

4. The Longest Map in History (46:42)

In 2015, a legendary game took place between two tier-3 teams at a UK league tournament, which went down in history as the longest map in CS:GO. The match consisted of 88 rounds, which is nearly equivalent to a full best-of-three series. This record has stood for nine years, and with the reduced number of rounds in CS 2, it will be even harder to break. In that match, the overtime was played in the MR5 format rather than MR3, further extending the game’s duration.

5. The Worst Rating in a Match

Nils "k1to" Gruhne set another record, but this time on the negative side of the statistics. In one of his early matches, he recorded the worst rating for a map—0.04 under the new Rating 2.0 system. Over 17 rounds, he failed to score a single kill, died 17 times, and dealt only 22 damage. Fortunately, this was the only game in his career with zero kills, and he has since significantly improved his performance.

These records continue to inspire and shock the CS:GO community. Each of these achievements highlights the unique and unpredictable moments in esports and how difficult it will be to surpass them in the future.
