New CS2 Update: Keychains and Custom Music Kits
After two weeks of silence, the CS2 developers have finally released a significant update weighing 700 MB. This CS2 update not only introduced numerous changes but also revealed several intriguing leaks that could significantly impact the future of the game.
Key Changes
Firstly, the update focuses on community maps: the Mils and Assembly maps have been updated. Additionally, in the standard game mode, extra experience points are now awarded for each round where a player inflicts damage on an opponent.
Changes have also affected the CS2 map voting policy on official servers. In the standard mode, voting can now only occur at the end of the match or in the first round. In the "deathmatch" and "arms race" modes, voting is available during the first minute of the match or at the end.
A new server command has been added for tournament organizers, allowing them to manage rounds or their duration. Additionally, player movement upwards when standing on another player is now restricted to prevent some previously encountered bugs.
Fixes and New Bugs
Naturally, the update also brought bug fixes. For example, dead players in spectator mode can no longer pick up items. The buy menu now automatically closes when switching to the team selection menu, and rescuing a hostage now increases the match statistics goal counter. The readability of damage data in the mini-table in expanded view has also been improved.
However, as often happens with major updates, new bugs have emerged alongside the fixes. For instance, players can become stuck in mid-air if one stands on top of another. This will likely require a quick fix in the next update.
Leaks and Future of the Game
Perhaps the most exciting aspect concerns the leaks found in the game files. The game code now explicitly mentions weapon keychains as a separate type of item, likely to appear in the near future. Furthermore, these items will have their own descriptions, and players might be able to create custom keychains through the workshop, similar to stickers and skins.
Hints in the game tools also suggest the possibility of creating custom music kits, which can also be uploaded to the workshop. This not only expands customization options but also simplifies the developers' task of adding new music to the game.
Music Kits in Counter-Strike: Underrated Treasures
Overall, the new CS2 update not only brought expected changes but also revealed a lot about the direction the game is heading. The introduction of keychains and the ability to create music kits promise to make the game even more diverse and engaging for the community.
